How did the Actors Perform?
Telugu audiences have already missed out on Siddharth’s second coming movies like Jigarthanda, Enakkul Oruvan and Kaaviya Thalaivan. Gruham is his re-intro to Telugu audience and he acts with sincerity and charm. Despite being the writer, he ensured that at-least 4-5 actors get good screen time without hogging all the limelight as a lead actor.
Anisha got a very challenging role where her acting could turn into hamming if not taken good care. She did well for a debutante. Atul Kulkarni as the vulnerable head of the family is impressive. The lady who plays his wife is more beautiful than Andrea and Anisha. Yesteryear hero Suresh gets a meaty role after a gap. Andrea has a limited role. Pastor needs special mention. Khushi Hazare is cute as Sarah.
At Super Telugu, we strongly believe that the Story of any film should not be revealed. It kills the thrill factor for prospective movie goers. So the top column of Story synopsis is restricted to just 2-3 sentences
Movie Analysis
Audience got into the habit of cheering scenes featuring ghosts due to the endless run of the mill Horror-Comedy films. But after the first one or two spine-chilling scenes, there is silence. That proves the diligence that Sid-Milind duo took in etching out the story and screenplay. They thought out of the box with scenes like ‘Suresh-file history’ and ‘Blackout-Sid Well recollection’. They took good care of little things as well. Ex-Andrea reading a book about ‘Malala’ bodes well with the main message they wanted to give out of the film.
It also makes us wonder if the name of Sid’s most popular co-star is the subconscious inspiration behind the girl’s name in the film- Jenny D’Costa,
The house set is perfect. Maybe because horror flicks are a western phenomena, Christian houses suit well for these kind of films. Cinematography is top notch. Graphics worked well 80 percent of the time. Sound design and mixing are on par with any of the best in International Cinema. The film could do well internationally. The Chinese backstory can also be leveraged.
Release Date – 17th Dec, 2017
Super Telugu Take –
Telugu audiences have already missed out on Siddharth’s second coming movies like Jigarthanda, Enakkul Oruvan and Kaaviya Thalaivan. I wanted to watch this scary film amidst low occupancy. But they come out in droves to watch ‘Gruham’. No Complaints 🙂
