Jawaan is a tussle between what is fundamentally right and wrong. Jai(Sai Dharam Tej) plays a righteous RSS youth with a idealistic vision about Society and Country. How his path clashes with his evil classmate Keshav(Prasanna) and what he does to safeguard his family and Country forms the rest of the story.
How is this movie different?
- First movie of SDT where he plays a mildly serious role, shying away from his happy-go-lucky persona.
Starcast – Sai Dharam Tej, Mehreen Pirzada, Prasanna, Subbaraju, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jaya Prakash..etc.,
Music – Thaman S
Editor – S R Sekhar, Madhu
Cinematography – K V Guhan
Producer – Krishna
Story and Direction – BVS Ravi
How did the Actors Perform?
Sai Dharam Tej does well in a Dhruva kind of role. His dialogue relating country to family deserves special mention. Throughout the film he appeared in plain colors be it formals, casuals or tees.
This is the first film that Mehreen signed after KGVPG. Her role is more glamorous than her recent films. Sneha’s husband Prasanna appeared as a suave villian. He is a major plus to the film, however he was not as well utilized as in the recently released ‘Detective’. Jaya Prakash and Kota Srinivas Rao were apt in roles which help mould the hero’s character. Naga Babu is trivial and Subba Raju is wasted. Anish Kurivilla appeared as DRDO cheif.
At Super Telugu, we strongly believe that the Story of any film should not be revealed. It kills the thrill factor for prospective movie goers. So the top column of Story synopsis is restricted to just 2-3 sentences
If the main stream Telugu hit cinema directors are like International cricketers, then this film director BVS Ravi is like a established Ranji Player. Despite his honest attempt the film contains many scenes which lacked finesse. The concept of Whatsapp groups , Voice change overs by villian appear childish.
Thaman always gives good output to Dharam, here too he does a decent job with songs and background music. Graphics were insipid and probably the worst in recent times. Cinematography is good.
Song placements were more like speed breakers. Tollywood* is now hooked on to the thriller format, So its high time they do away with the minimum 5-6 songs routine.
Release Date – 1st Dec,2017
Super Telugu Take –
Jawaan starts out with an interesting premise but it is clearly evident that the writer could not efficiently translate his thoughts on to the celluloid. It is definitely not a bad movie , but lacks finesse and perfection to be a commercially successful film.
Super Telugu Rating – 2.75/5
- We dont like using the term Tollywood , but it helps from ‘search’ perspective.
