Navdeep held after chase, gets bail

Actor Navdeep featured in a high speed police chase on Saturday night, was arrested, and put behind bars. All this, not for a reel-life stunt, but in a real-life drama that injured one policeman.

Police were conducting a special drive at Cinemax on the Sagar Society-KBR Park Road when, a little after 1 am, a car came speeding towards them and refused to stop when signalled to do so. The police tried to intercept the Honda Accord but it sped away and took a left turn at the KBR Park junction. “As the car reached the check-post at the Indo-American Cancer hospital, the police managed to intercept it even though the driver tried to speed away. He ran over the leg of a constable but was finally forced to stop at the Kalinga hall,” the police said.

The driver turned out to be Navdeep. He was taken into custody and a non bailable case was registered. Later in the evening he was produced at a judge and was granted bail.
