Biography:
Kamalini Mukherjee born as Roshni on March 4th 1980 is an outstanding Tollywood actress who won prestigious Nandi Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for her film "Anand" in 2004.Kamalini Mukherjee was fond of acting and has been appearing in stage plays since her childhood. She participated in school plays, amateur plays, college plays and professional stage plays. Her immense love for acting has landed her movie roles in Telugu,thanks to renowned director Shekar Kammula who discovered her. Shekar Kammula not only discovered Kamalini Mukherjee but he went on to give her big hits each year - "Anand","Godavari" and "Happy Days".
With Anand, Kamalini Mukherjee went on to win her first Nandi award for her emotional performance in the movie. She was compared with the likes of erstwhile legends Savithri and Soundarya. Incidentally, her first Hindi movie, "Phir Milenge" released in 2004 starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Salman Khan was a big flop.Shilpa Shetty was the lead actress though and kamilini played second fiddle.Surprisingly after the super success of 'Anand', Kamilini barely got big offers. She choose 'Meenakshi' opposite Rajeev Kanakala as her second film and it fared miserably. She followed it up with a role of very little importance in Style.
2006 again turned out to be a good year for Kamalini with her performance in Godavari getting as much recognition as her role in Anand. Kamalini Mukherjee also appeared in Kamal Haasan starrer "Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu" in 2006. The movie was a big hit in Tamil and it was dubbed into Telugu titled as "Raghavan". Her film "Style was dubbed as "Lakshyam" in Tamil.In 2007, her three movies namely, "Pellaindi Kaani", "Classmates" and "Happy Days" released and only Happy days was a hit.
2008 started with a bang with the surprise success of Gamyam where she played opposite Sarwanand Her brief role in Jalsa kept her in the success path. 'Bramhanandam Drama Company' a remake of Bhagam Bhag had poor production values and sunk without a trace. She is presently doing 'Gopi,Gopika,Godavari' in the direction of Vamsi. Venu is the hero beside her. She is also doing a tamil-telugu bilingual 'Police Police' which has Prithviraj and Sriram cast opposite her.
