Story: Sandeep aka Sandy(Allu Arjun) is the son of Raja Gopal and Vasundhara(Ashish Vidhyarthi and Suhasini). Sandy’s parents want him to get married as he is leaving for a job in US. They also start the search for a bride for him. But Sandy loves the tradition of 16 days long marriage ceremony where the bride and groom see each other for the first time only on the marriage dais and convinces his parents for that.

They find’s Deepthi (Bhanu Sree Mehra) as a perfect match for Sandy. The 16 day long wedding ceremony starts off in a very grand way with all the relatives and hungama..

Suddenly, Diwakar(Arya) kidnaps Deepthi from the venue and takes her as his hostage… Sandeep decides to rescue Deethi …… Will he succeed in rescuing her from Diwakar? Why did Diwakar kidnap her and who is Diwakar? All this stuff forms the second half.

Artist’s Performance: Allu Arjun performed well in his casual manner. Arjun was very convincing in delivering lengthy and loud dialogues.

Heroine Bhanu Sree Mehra was finally seen after being in the wraps for long enough time. She enters the movie after 45 minutes of the start. There was very limited scope for her to perform as she was a hostage for most of the time.

Arya did a wonderful job as a baddie. In some scenes he reminds gopichand in Jayam. His dubbing rendered by ‘Bommali’ Ravi Shankar matched very well.

Suhasini, Ashish Vidhyarthi were adequate. Shayaji Shinde, Vijaya Krishna Naresh, Nassar and Ahuthi Prasad were just present for the role’s sake. Brahmanandam’s role neither has prominence nor do spills laugh.

Technical Details: Guna Sekhar was very clear from the beginning of the publicity of the movie. In many occasions he said that the movie is going to showcase the importance of traditional five days marriage and he sticked to his point. The first half is very weak and the story picks up good momentum just before interval and ends in a very predictive way. There are flavors of Okkadu in this movie (Heroine being taken as hostage by the villain, Hero and Villain fighting one on one at the climax)The comedy part was totally missing in Varudu.

Music by Mani Sharma was Ok. Background score should have been more electrifying. Cinematography by R.D.Raja Sekhar is good. Production values of Universal Media were very rich.

Super Verdict: Varudu released with a huge hype and it’s the curtain raiser for the summer season films in tollywood. This movie will get good openings with the pre release hype but the movie won’t appeal for the masses. Overall Varudu may become an average fare at the Box Office.
