Tollywood is bereft of Telugu heroines. Yet the likes of Sobhita Dhulipala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sindhura Gadde, Bindu Madhavi, Sri Divya never got a real chance in Mainstream cinema. One more Telugu girl who is doing well in Bollywood but yet unknown to Telugu audience is Swara Bhaskar.
The first film she got well noticed was ‘Tanu weds Manu’. She went on to act as Salman’s sister in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and Dhanush’s love interest in ‘Raanjhanaa’. Her last film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ was a critically acclaimed story of a servant maid who excels in education. Swara was born to Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar, a Telugu Indian Navy officer, and his Bihari wife Ira Bhaskar, a professor of cinema studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. With the current severe shortage of heroines(of even north indian descent) in Tollywood, the producers can do well by approaching some home grown talent.
