The auction for choosing the open market players for the tenth edition of IPL was held last week in Bangalore. Here’s the Super Telugu take on the players involved.
THOPS (Who aced the auction)
Afghanistan is the rising force in Cricket and two of its players Rashid Khan(4 Cr) and Mohammed Nabi(30 Lakhs) were picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Lot of elite players from Western countries get into IPL purely for money while complaining about local conditions, traffic, cleanliness, food etc. But veellu ala kaadhu, Nabi said that the auction is the most happiest day in his life and he was filled with tears. Leg break bowler Rashid Khan is a future great in the making who feels that the IPL stint would stand him in good stead.
We all know Sunrisers would be the team the whole of Afghanistan would be cheering for this IPL.
RAGS TO RICHES LOCAL PACERS
Hithertho unknown pacers Siraj and Natarajan were capitulated into overnight fame with the IPL auction. They were picked up for 2.6 Cr and 3 Cr respectively. Read more about Siraj Mohammed in the earlier article of Super Telugu. Natarajan belongs to Chinnappampatti, a small village in Tamil Nadu. His mother is a meat vendor, and father a daily wage labourer.
They say that the Indian system is skewed towards the rich, but dedication and hardwork almost invariably pay off.
THE LIGHTENING BOLTS
Fast bowlers Rabada, Cummins and Boult were picked up in the top range prices. This shows that guys who clock 145km+ are required to contain the technically challenged players who slog around. Its bowlers who wins the matches, and its good to see this auction putting a premium on them.
OFF THE RADAR INDIAN BOWLERS
All three players were earlier the mainstays of their IPL teams. The bowling attacks were built around them. But unfortunately they didn’t have any takers this time around. To put things into context, even Munaf Patel was picked.
The leaving out of certain players defied cricketing knowledge. Imran Tahir is the Number 1 Ranked T20 bowler. Colin Munro is an attacking batsman who can also bowl a bit. Parveez Rasool had just represented India in a T20 Inte larnational last month. Lot of unknown players were picked but surprisingly no one bidded on him despite his allround skills.
Thop laaga 2 Cr base price ichaadu. There were no takers. Last ki Munaf Patel ni kuuda teeskunnaru, but nannu teeskoledu ane baadha ithanni ventaaduthuune untundi.
He is the poster boy and captain of the attacking English T20 team. But Ben Stokes and Tymal Mills ki voche amount lo he got less than one-fourth.
Asalu Tymal Mills ni 12 Crores petti konatam kuuda pedda bisket ey.
Manodu just 2 years back winning shot kotti ila shirt paiki ethi tirigaadu. This year Aditya Tare was not picked by any team. When it comes to commerce, there is no room for team loyalty.
