His grandson Siddharth(Sai Dharam Tej) leaves the house at a very young age due to the differences with his father Mahender Reddy (Jagapathi Babu). Siddharth grows up hating everything related to Racing or fatherly feelings. How he realises about the earlier differences created and the ensuing father and son relationship forms the rest of the story.

How is this movie different?

  • First Telugu movie on the only legally sanctioned betting game in India – Horse Racing

Director : Gopichand Malineni

How did the Actors Perform?

Sai Dharam Tej went for a makeover in this film with his new hair-do. He did well in both action and emotional scenes. As usual he played to the gallery with references about Megastar and Powerstar. Rakul Preet did her bit as the hero’s love interest.

Jagapathi Babu – Sai Dharam Tej scenes are the heart and soul of this film. This is one of the best roles for Jagapathi Babu and he did it in his own sophisticated yet vulnerable way. Anoop Thakur Singh has a kind of face which makes you hate him and that makes him a good villian. So he might become a regular face in Telugu cinema for some time.

Prudhvi, Vennela Kishore and Ali neither bored the audience nor evoked great laughter. Bitthiri Satthi was wasted. Anasuya shined in a guest song. She would have rather been more apt for the Janatha Garage number ‘Pakka Local’ since she is a Telugaite. Director Gopichand too made a guest appearance lending his bike to the hero. Mahesh Babu’s nephew and Sudheer Babu’s son ‘Charith’ played the role of young Sai Dharam Tej.

How did the Technicians fare?

Sports based films like Thammudu, Sye etc requires lot of adrenaline rush scenes. The director squarely failed in creating the same. The film has a very ordinary love track as well. That said he has portrayed the Father and Son relationship in an excellent way. The background music, artistes performance everything fell in place in emotional scenes. The same was missing in Love track and Comedy scenes.

‘Sitara’ and father-son song are good. Fights are good, but the final horse racing scenes could have been composed in an even better way. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu gave the film a rich look. Production values are good.

Release Date – 24th Feb, 2017

Super Telugu Take –

The director probably had a script with some great scenes on Father-Son relationship and the rest were written to fill up the gaps. The film will do decently well due to mega fan base and commercial elements. Overall an average fare. But a 15 minutes worth scenes between Jagapathi Babu and Sai Dharam Tej are extremely good.

Super Telugu Rating – 3.10/5
